Colorado QB Jordan Webb suffers torn ACL, will miss 2013 season

Colorado senior quarterback Jordan Webb will miss the 2013 season after tearing his ACL in practice on Tuesday.

Webb, who started 10 games for the Buffaloes last season after graduating and transferring from Kansas, was one of four quarterbacks new coach Mike MacIntyre said had a chance to be the starting quarterback in the fall.

Webb injured his knee during a noncontact drill while making a routine cut. His knee gave out and he collapsed to the ground.
It was Webb’s first practice since injuring his surgically repaired throwing hand during the first week of spring practices. He had two surgeries on the hand in the winter.

“This is very sad for Jordan,” MacIntyre said. “We all feel for him. He was doing well in practice, competing again for the starting job, and for this to happen and to lose him for the season is just a shame.”

Webb completed 144-of-265 passes for 1,434 yards last season. He had eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Webb was readying for his fifth year of eligibility. He can receive a medical hardship sixth season if the NCAA approves it. He suffered a torn abdominal muscle during his freshman season at Kansas in 2009 and was forced to redshirt, which would play into the NCAA's decision.

“It’s another obstacle that I have to overcome,” Webb said. “I’ve rebounded from adversity before so this is just another challenge I have to face.”
